MI-500, MI-750, and MI-1000 Telescope Mountings

Computer Control Systems

AstroPhysics GTO

The MI-500, MI-750, and MI-1000 mounts are supplied with the AstroPhysics GTO computer control. Using high-quality Swiss DC servomotors, this microprocessor-controlled drive system provides smooth tracking to an accuracy of 0.05 arc seconds per step. The GTO has a speed range of 4800:1, which allows 0.25x sidereal for guiding to 1200x sidereal for 5 degrees per second.

An external computer is not needed, since the keypad is a handheld computer with all of the features, functions, and databases one needs to control a telescope. The keypad software allows you to precisely polar align your mount in the field.

Optionally, the functions of the GTO control can be commanded from a laptop or desktop computer using popular planetarium software. You can position the telescope, center an image and control the tracking rate, set the reticule brightness, and then park the telescope at the end of the night.

This GTO control requires a regulated 12-volt power supply with a minimum output of 5 amps.

Bisque Telescope Control System (TCS)

As an option, we offer the Bisque TCS for those needing to operate their telescope remotely. This is a very sophisticated control system that includes a complete software suite, including TheSky and its remote control scripting program. This is the same control system used with the Paramount ME, well known for its precision and portability. It includes Periodic Error Correction, 56 bit internal precision, and many other advanced features.

TheSky TCS is designed to be used with an external computer and it has unmatched remote control capabilities right out of the box. TheSky is a well known planetarium program with outstanding telescope control features.

We have adapted the TCS to each of our mounts, and it can be purchased as an option with the MI-500, MI-750, or MI-1000.
